Comments on: Windows 7 beta: First impressions

A new version of Microsoft's operating system, bringing back that nebulous "Windows XP feel," won't wow anyone but will satisfy them on a much deeper level, ZDNet Australia writes.

I installed the RTM version on three laptops, one of which was running on Windows Vista and the other two on Windows XP. For users upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, for example, a 32-bit Vista Ultimate to a 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, the installation is a smooth process.

For now stay with XP. Windows 7 could be just as bad as vista thats why I would wait for them to release a SPK and remove the bugs.

If this is a repeat sorry, I don't feel like reading through 302 posts. I did however want to share this. I have been using 7 since the first beta release and now in my home we have 8 Win7 machines between desktops and laptops, all retail Ultimate releases. Recently however I purchased a MacBook Pro for one reason only, to develop apps for the Iphone in my professional industry. It pissed me off but I had to do it because Apple won't allow you to develop on any other platform. For a few weeks I was carrying two laptops to the office. Now only one. I installed Vmware Fusion and Windows 7. Windows 7 performs better than the MAC OS does. That's right, on it's own hardware platform. Win 7 beat the MAC even though the MAC had home field advantage. So now I carry one laptop again. It starts Windows 7 automatically when it boots and ALL of my development systems and business apps run under Win7. I use the MAC for "xcode" only. I even run my Itunes software uner Win7 instead of the MAC. They should advertise this on those annoying MAC commercials because it's finally the truth.

I have to say it is a nicely built machine with a great display.....And it runs Winodws 7 perfectly under Fusion. Not to mention the native PC's running Windows 7 are working just fine.

Do not buy low mid end netbook with Windows 7. I have bought one, Atom, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive. Windows 7 is the HORRIBLE thing. It is so killing slow. It takes 59GB hard drive. Much worse then XP.

I will return this netbook or try to download Ubuntu or wait for Chrom OS. Those PC makers should sell computers with Linux preloaded already. Hate Windows.
