Astronaut and space station commander Peggy Whitson, former Iowa farm girl, knows a thing or two about jerry-rigging. When a rip in the space station's solar fan was discovered, she apparently climbed right up and fixed it temporarily while NASA scrambles to send equipment for proper repairs.
