Yahoo enhances its GO 2.0 service

Yahoo! GO, Yahoo's multiservice mobile phone application has been enhanced, adding several incremental improvements. The most noticeable is speed, which Yahoo says has been increased "substantially." Yahoo has also improved its mobile mail client. Users can now open Microsoft Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PDFs from e-mail attachments. Users can also see all their Yahoo Mail folders, and move messages to and fro.

The mobile version of Yahoo Maps that's been bundled has also seen an update with faster loading times and GPS compatibility. Users with GPS-enabled cell phones can now call up their location right on the map, assuming they're using a compatible handset.

Yahoo is also launching Go in Canada, the Asia-Pacific, and most of Europe.

One thing that's still lacking with this service is handset compatibility. While Yahoo Go works on five major U.S. carriers, a very small percentage of handsets are compatible. The service also claims it works with Windows Mobile phones, although according to the compatible phones page, the nearly 80 Windows Mobile handsets are listed as "coming soon!"

Address Book Sync
by hemmeter June 23, 2007 3:18 PM PDT
There is a an Address Book sync option in the menu that will sync your Contacts between a Blackberry (in my case) and Yahoo! I haven't played with it too much, but tried it and it worked well. I think this is a meaningful addition to the product to help people rely on Yahoo services.
