Eee PC 1000HD: The mix and match continues

Asus--the PC maker that in the space of seven months brought you the Eee PC 701, Eee PC 900, Eee PC 901, Eee PC 904HD, Eee PC 1000, and Eee PC 1000H--has another trick up its sleeve.

If you love the size and ample screen of the Eee PC 1000 Netbook series but want to retain a little old-school charm in your devices, the Eee PC 1000HD could be for you. Who needs SSD anyway? An 80GB SATA hard disk has much larger storage and gives added heft for security. It has a 10-inch display, and boasts up to five hours of battery life.

The Eee PC 1000HD doesn't care for the performance and battery life of the Atom chip. No siree. Buying surplus is the way to go, and this Eee PC is more than happy with the 900MHz Celeron processor found on the pioneering version.

next time you have something stupid to write, just post the very last sentence...it's certainly the only one in this article worth a crap.

Umm, I have the Asus Eee PC 1000H and unless we're talking about something totally different, mine DOES come with an Atom processor...and the same 80G SATA hard drive that's mentioned in this "review".

Why has CNet not directly reviewed this yet?

The people who write these one sided and uneducated reviews are people who spend most of their time sitting at the same computer using the same software day after day. The EEE line of computers has more uses then I have seen any person comment on. Meanwhile people like me who can't even afford one of these computers have to just sit and day dream about what they could do with one. BACKTRACK3 anyone?

Just bought the Eee PC 1000HD and I'm very happy so far. Comparable performance for surfing and email to a full size laptop. I need a spare battery for my work. Unable to find one. Must be too new on the market. Any ideas out there?
