Two drivers in each earphone have always offered a powerfully seductive sound--sweeter even than the screams of Duffy Springfailed as she's bundled into the guillotine for crimes against music. Now Audio Technica's getting in on the action.
No, it's not commissioned the beheading of pop's greatest wrong-doing since Dale Winton provided the vocals for the Supermarket Sweep pop song (yes, there was one. And yes, we actually have the CD). What Audio Technica has done is shove a woofer and a separate tweeter into each of the new CK10 earphones.
Now it's not the first time anyone's done this--Jays put two inside the impossibly small q-Jays, Shure threw two woofers into the SE420s and then even went and put three complete drivers inside each of the SE530's 'phones. But it's the first we've heard from Audio Technica.
Well, we've not heard them yet, but they're on their way. For 250 pounds (about $489), we're expecting the sound of an orgy in our ears, to which only supermodels and Ingrid Michaelson were invited. We'll have the full lowdown for you faster than you can say, "Check out the brand new mobile version of CNET.co.uk." The CK10s are on sale now.
