HP launches smallest laser printer yet

by Darius Chang

Is your tiny desk space making you feel down? Do you have secret desires to dismember that elephantine beast your IT department calls a laser printer? Well, you can stop popping that Valium because HP has launched its smallest laser printer to date, the LaserJet P1005. Crave first learned of this black-and-white model last summer, but it's now available on the market.

Taking up about the same area as a 15.4-inch notebook, the printer claims to be able to push out its first copy in under 8.5 seconds (from the PowerSave mode) with an average speed of 14 pages per minute. It uses a special ink developed by HP--formed from perfectly spherical particles--which it says should give better image quality over other inks.

Specialty HP ink = super expensive ink
by Dustout February 4, 2008 3:41 PM PST
I got a HP inkjet printer and how much they charge for ink is criminal, but at least for mine i could look around for different types. If this printer uses a specialty HP ink then you'll be spending alot more than you want

HP Inks and Toners
by Allsystems March 2, 2008 5:55 PM PST
From an objective point of view, HP uses extremely advanced technology in its ink and toners and consumers should get unbiased opinions regarding pricing. I always find that with printing, you get what you pay for. If superior quality, higher yields and less repair issues are part of using the genuine article, then it's well worth it. No point in getting replacement lower grade ink and toner in order to save a few dollars if in the end I will get inferior results and risking damaging my printers. I find reliability and quality are worth paying for. For my hard earned $$$, nobody does it better than HP.

We purchased the HP LaserJet P1005 printer a week ago to test our
remanufactured HP toner
cartridges. It is the smallest HP laser printer I have ever seen! Very cool.
