Wi-Fi remote plays music, browses Web
(Credit: tvCompass)It's been well documented in this space that people have become increasingly addicted to their remotes, but the problem is reaching pandemic proportions. Not only do they want to take it with them all at times and under any weather conditions, but apparently they also want it to take over every digital function in their lives.
Nothing exemplifies this trend more than tvCompass, which has developed a Wi-Fi remote that can browse the Web on its 2.2-inch cell-phone-style LCD, according to Dvice. In addition to controlling up to 24 devices, the SR 1500 Digital Media Remote even has "hot keys" for real-time information feeds and a speaker "to hear alerts and play back digital audio." It also has a built-in Wi-Fi locater so that, we suppose, you can walk around the house looking for hot spots.
Let's get this straight: So this is a multimedia device that plays music and browses the Web. The obvious question is, naturally, does it come with a remote?

I guess us gadget lusting freaks are a picky bunch always looking for more. However, it seem like manufactures are always dropping the ball. A point illustrated in the "no audiophile mp3 player blog"(that was my own title for it) a few post back on this site. It's seems like every product that comes out has a missing ingredient that would really make it a must have.
BTW, I bet your going have to charge that thing all the time. I'm going to be pissed if I can't change my channels because I forgot to recharge my remote. One interesting thing to note is trend of switching from indexed based interfacing devices such as mice, keyboards, and touch pads to to thumb related controls.
I have a wireless keyboard and mouse with a t.v. in close proximity. I surf and view effortless all day without this device.
Pump it, or dump it? -Dump it!
Nice try though, if it had P2P phone capabilities- I'd be on it like mustard on a hot dog. :)
- HAHA, ala KDDI?
