That's a "per speaker" price as best as I can tell

So the total for "speakers" (as the article says) would be $500.

Thanks, you're right, these speakers are sold as singles. The plural has been changed to singular and the price noted as per-speaker.
Boston has best bang for the buck!

I don't have these specific speakers but my surround system and bedroom stereo are both Boston Accoustics. For a price point that is competitive with Bose you get a very rich and warm base with trebble that is extremely accurate without sounding shrill. I won't buy any other brand.

Amazon is also selling the VR3 for $250 each. The VR3 is an even better version of the speaker with a larger cabinet and larger woofers for deeper bass.
