Seagate updates One Touch hard drives

(Credit: Seagate)Seagate announced today the fourth iteration of the OneTouch family of external hard drives. The OneTouch 4 lineup includes the standard OneTouch 4 hard drive, the OneTouch 4 Plus, and the OneTouch Mini portable drive. All feature a new industrial design meant to evoke the image of a vault--that is, data protection. All offer automatic backup: You can choose folders or files to backup, schedule the backup task to trigger at specific date/time, and keep up to 10 historical versions of each file/folder. The OneTouch Plus and OneTouch Mini drives take protection a step further with Maxtor SafetyDrill, a program that helps to restore backed up files, applications, settings, and OSes. Both models also include a synchronization feature that lets you synch files and folders between two or more machines, as well as encryption, in the form of password protection and 256-bit AES encryption.
The OneTouch 4 hard drive is available in capacities of 250GB, 500GB, and 750GB, ranging in price from $100 to $270. The OneTouch 4 Plus comes in 250GB, 500GB, 750GB, and 1TB capacities, ranging from $130 to $360. And the OneTouch 4 Mini comes in 80GB, 120GB, and 160GB capacities, from $100 to $150. All are backed by a generous five-year warranty.
