Doh! Palm has pulled its software updates for the Verizon Wireless Treo 700p and Treo 700w/700wx after numerous customer complaints about connectivity issues. A statement on Palm's Web site says the update was taken down "... as a result of increasing customer reports of network connectivity issues following the updates. We are currently investigating the issue and will re-post as soon as they become available. The reported error displays 'Error 3000 - Data network is not available' when attempting to connect to the data network. This error does not affect your device or personal data in any other way. Thank you for your patience."

No word on when Palm will issue a new patch, but affected customers should contact Verizon immediately for a fix. I'm curious, has anyone run into this problem?

700P Firmware update
by wfwii0814 August 14, 2007 2:16 PM PDT
I updated to the newest firmware about two weeks ago and have had no problems whatsoever. Bluetooth connectivity much improved and data connections are solid. I am suprised they have pulled the firmware update.

Finally.... Update nothing but problems for data

I installed the update shortly after it came out and as far as data is concerned it was nothing but problems on my 700W. Bluetooth improved substantially, I had no more problems with my jawbone headset, but the data portion of the phone was essentially useless, slow, and nearly impossible to use.

A local Verizon store provided me with a "new" (read refurbished) 700W as a replacement handset that still had the old software on it. Hopefully Palm fixes this error soon and gets a fully functional update posted as the improved bluetooth was very nice.
