You'll probably need to get crankin' if you want to play the whole video.

For bored campers accustomed to whiling away those tedious nature-filled hours downing cheap beer or playing Scrabble, we've found the perfect reason to never leave the tent.

Trevor Baylis, creator of the first wind-up radio, and the amazing electric shoe, has introduced the first wind-up MP3 player. Available at the end of August with a price tag of $350, the Eco Media Player seems like an attention-deficit camper's dream come true. The wind-up media player has a 1.8-inch color screen and a lean 2GB of memory that can be expanded using an SD memory card. Like a media junkie Swiss Army knife, the Eco Media player features an MP3 player, a video player, an FM radio, and a flashlight, voice recorder, photo viewer, mobile phone charger, and an e-book viewer. It also can be used as a portable storage drive in a pinch.

Trevor Baylis - Inventor of Crank-Up Radio?
by CMHeywood August 13, 2007 1:12 PM PDT
Mr. Baylis may have created a crank-up radio but he didn't invent it. That technology has been around for decades. Haven't you ever seen old WW2 movies where the radio guy cranks up the radio to send in a message? Haven't you ever watched Little House on the Praire, etc. where they had to crank up the battery in the phone before they could call?
