HTC gems unearthed? Rumors pick up on HTC Omni and HTC Cavalier
HTC Omni
(Credit: Unwired View via Engadget Mobile)What's this? A non-iPhone news item? Yes, believe it. And if the rumors are true, then we've got some really craveworthy gadgets here. First up is the HTC Omni (rendering pictured right). The supposed upgrade to the HTC Universal (which sadly never landed here in the States) and related to the HTC Advantage, the Omni is said to have a 4-inch, 800x480-pixel WVGA display and VGA and TV outputs. In addition, the Windows Mobile 6 device is equipped with GPS, UMTS/HSDPA, Bluetooth, a 400MHz Samsung SC244X processor, 128MB of RAM, and a full QWERTY keyboard. Again, the image is just a rendering and there's no word on when or if the Omni will see the day of light, but mama mia, I hope so!
HTC Cavalier
(Credit: Engadget Mobile)While the Omni seems more like a pipe dream at this point, here's something a little more concrete. According to Engadget Mobile, the HTC Cavalier, the successor to the beloved T-Mobile Dash, has won FCC approval, clearing the way for a U.S. release and adding a key ingredient: 3G support. There's no official word on availability or carrier, but if we had to guess, we'd say it'll be AT&T. Perhaps a little something, something for the AT&T business customers who couldn't be satisfied by the iPhone?
