Being old enough to have watched the original SNL--before it was called SNL--we've always had a special place in our hearts for bass. So we may well have a skewed perspective on the the "Bass Fishing Wii" game coming out of Japan (of course).

Kotaku says the game has six stages and takes place in locales around the world, including the Grand Canyon. (We had no idea that bass fishing was so big there.) It sounds pretty boring to us too, which is why Kotaku speculates that Chisato Morishita--a "former race queen model"--was hired for the ad pictured here.

We have an idea to spice things up a bit: Add a virtual "Bass-O-Matic" at the end.

Wii goes fishing

Two outdoor activities taken for granted here in the States are very expensive in Japan, due to land costs: golf, and bass fishing. Both activities are very prestigious in the Far East, whereas here only golf has a social cachet.

Several Japanese professional bass fishermen are now living and competing here in the US to gain experience from our professionals. Their original plan was to return to Japan to put their newly-earned skills to use against Japanese anglers. So far, only one or two have done so; the others are enjoying our varied fishing too much!

This game will, no doubt, slake the thirst of bass-fishermen during months when fishing is impractical due to weather, etc.
