Providing that you're not still calling home to ask for money, mom might actually appreciate a video phone for Mother's Day even if you're sporting the same mullet from college. And if she doesn't, you'll at least have a neat conversation piece in the "Ojo Shadow Video Phone" from WorldGate.

The device, which looks like a gangling-adolescent version of some long-necked laptops we've seen lately, is making its U.S. debut on the Home Shopping Network (don't laugh). Engadget points out that the $500 price for a pair might be a deal breaker, but don't change the channel just yet. We hear there are some great HSN deals coming up on oriental rugs.

A BETTER VIDEOPHONE-GLOBALINX
by suiteums June 17, 2007 2:18 PM PDT
HAVE YOU SEEN THE VIDEOPHONE BY A COMPANY CALLED GLOBALINX? WE HAVE ONE OURSELVES, COMPARED IT TO THE OJO AND IT WORKS JUST AS WELL, THE ONLY THING IS THAT IT'S BULKIER, BUT THE OJO LOOKS LIKE AN ALIEN TO US. THE PHONE IS 199 AND THE MONTHLY FEE IS 25.00/MO OR 199/YEAR, BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER, IT CAN REPLACE YOUR HOME PHONE SERVICE B/C IT CAN CALL ANY VIDEOPHONE, LANDLINE OR CELL PHONE.
THE SETUP IS RIDICULOSLY EASY, IT?S TRULY PLUG AND PLAY.

WORLDWIDE CALLING GLOBALINX CUSTOMER TO GLOBALINX CUSTOMER IS ALSO FREE, BUT ONE CAN HAVE A VIDEOPHONE AND ONE JUST THE SERVICE AND IT WILL STILL WORK.

ONE FEATURE WE LOVE IS THAT THE PHONE COMES WITH VIDEO IN & OUT FEMALE RCA CABLES THAT LET YOU PLUG IN YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA OR CAMCORDER SO YOU CAN SHARE PICTURES OR DO LIVE VIDEO (WE PUT OURS ON A TRIPOD AND PANNED MY SON'S B-DAY PARTY). YOU ALSO CAN USE THE VIDEO OUT FOR YOUR TV SO YOU CAN SIT ON THE SOFA AND TALK (THAT'S WHAT WE DO).

WE LOVE IT
