A pink Zune, now? So 2006

It's become standard practice in the consumer electronics industry: When it doubt, paint it pink. But strategies like that usually work best when a color is still hot, or at least lukewarm.

Perhaps that explains why Microsoft--rarely accused of setting trends these days--is coming out with a pink Zune now. Cliczune says EBgames.com has confirmed that the pastel version of the media player will be available May 1 for $250 with the standard 30GB storage capacity.

We doubt that the new hue will propel the Zune over the iPod anytime soon, but there was a fair amount of buzz over a few special pink versions in circulation back in November. And then there was that eBay auction where a pink Zune went for $960.

Our take: Almost anything is better than brown.

Everyone I talk to says that the Zune makes them heave their guts because it is so freaking pathetic!

Steve Ballmer can bite me on the face and I will still refuse to buy one.

So in the previous post Pink was in when Apple released an iPod and now Pink is so 2006 when Zune comes out pink??? Talk about a flip flopper!!

Zune has a great UI, I've never had a problem with it. Apple's is good too. I have a Mac and a couple PCs. Use what works but don't ding on something just because. DRM is the thing that kind of makes things difficult, but I think we'll see some changes there with the latest developments we've been seeing.

One week ago Pink is still in for the ipod but now when you post Zune content about it being pink then pink is out. You should be a politician the way you jump back and forth on issues.
