Wii tries to get real with new bowling game

As one the main staples of Wii Sports, Wii Bowling might soon have some competition from a new bowling game that purports to have a more realistic look. According to Crave Entertainment (no relation to this CNET's Crave.com blog), "Brunswick Pro Bowling will give players a detailed, realistic bowling-center experience, complete with authentic sights and sounds, and official Brunswick bowling gear. Brunswick Pro Bowling will be highly customizable, allowing players to choose everything from their character's appearance and accessories to ball styles." In addition to being made for the Wii, the game will be available for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable in June.

In past--and I don't know why--bowling games haven't been that good. Of course, there's a big appeal in using the Wiimote to bowl, so we're a little more optimistic about Brunswick Pro Bowling than perhaps we should be. Supposedly, the game will offer the same sort of fling-your-controller-into-your-TV experience that you get with Wii Bowling--it'll just look more true-to-life. That doesn't necessarily mean it'll be more fun. What do you think?

Looks promising...

If the screenshot is any indication, this bowling will be much more lifelike than Wii sports - Wii sports bowling just doesn't feel quite right

Good but limited

I have been waiting for this since I saw the limitations of wii bowling. However I am a little disappointed that only Brunswick bowling equipment would be featured. I was hoping for a PBA based game that featured a variety of manufacturers. However I think the biggest challenge will be implementing a good physics engine, one that takes into account ball weight and oil conditions and breakdown throughout the game.

How About Skins Bowling?

$1 a frame per player. Whoever ties carry over to next frame until there is a winner from that tied frame. Next frame everyone starts fresh. We would actually play this to an old PS@ bowling game and it was a blast. One time the carry over got over $75. It was crazy.

Brunswick Pro Bowl

I'm a little disappointed with this game. It's hard to line up the ball and I don't have that side view, with the meter that keeps showing in screenshots. I've emailed Crave, but, of course, have not gotten a reply. If anyone knows the secret to get this view, please let me know. Otherwise the game is fun.

Are we messing up or are the sounds for this game not very good/ No cheering for strikes and or spares compared to the crappy Wii
