Keep your eyes on the windshield

We at Crave would never advocate speeding or any other illegal activity on the road, but we do think it's only fair that motorists get a fighting chance against overzealous, quota-driven traffic cops (this is America, dammit). Besides, this windshield speed projector can actually help you keep your eyes on the road, making it easier to dial a cell phone phone or watch a DVD while behind the wheel.

GlobalTop Technology's "GPS HUD Speed Meter" projects your miles per hour on the windshield so your eyes don't need to drop down to the dashboard for those crucial split seconds, NaviGadget says, "just like jet fighter planes." You can set up an alert function for further warning before approaching a red-zone speed, not unlike a similar system that was being developed by Siemens a few months back.

As a backup, you can also get a radar that yells at you. You may never get a ticket again, but no guarantees about speed-induced crashes.

Heads Up Display (HUD)

My 1995 Pontiac Bonneville came standard with this (not aftermarket, straight from the manufacturer). It is amazing how this never caught on (though I did hear a rumor about a lawsuit that forced car companies to stop using it).

It was my first car, and i can tell you that I miss my HUD till this day. What an awesome concept and it works just as advertised. I had to get used to looking at my speedometer in my new cars and still am not fully used to it.

I will be getting one of these FOR SURE.
