Dick Tracy cliches aside, this long-promised watch-phone could finally become a reality as soon as next month. Australia's SMS Technology claims that its M300 is the "world's smallest phone," a mobile device that could otherwise be easily mistaken for a digital wristwatch that can work with any GSM network. It has a color screen, MP3 player, USB port, speakerphone and Bluetooth compatibility. I4U News says it's scheduled to start shipping March 25 for about $500 in a variety of colors--yes, including pink.

No one wants this,

How long does it take for these companies to realize, unless the display limitation hurdle can be gracefully overcomed (a watch just does not have enough real estate for a worthwhile screen, not yet at least), watch baed PDA and cell phone are useless!! Also, since any reasonable watch in today's technology would need a ear piece to work reasonably, no one would want to pay the crazy price to have a limited cell phone in a watch with crummy display and still require you to carry a ear piece in one's pocket anyway!! A $50 cell phone today has better display, better features, and portability of a wrist watch is not enough compared to a matchbox sized cell phone with the greatly reduced functionalities!!

A reasonably sized watch with Blue Tooth for my ear bud is perfect.

It's annoying pocketing a cell phone. I'd rather just pocket a tiny Blue Tooth ear piece, and pop it in when I get a call.

I don't know what the poster above me wants a big screen for, since all I ever use that for is reading phone numbers, and the time. I don't need a camera, I don't text message, and I don't need to play Tetris.

The only downside I see, is that the battery will be quite small. But as long as they can give you 2-3 days without charging, it'll be good enough.

I hope a lot of people buy these, so other companies make them and the price comes down a bit...$500 is more than I would spend on a phone. I'd probably do it for $200 though.

Some people bought these, and now have to pretend to Dick Tracy...ah well...I hope a real one comes along at a reasonable price tag.
