Runaway alarm clock

Clocky alarm clock (Credit: Nando Home)

We have seen a Hello Kitty alarm clock, a flying alarm clock and even a sonic boom alarm clock. But Clocky may be one of the most interesting alarm clock concepts.

Not only does this alarm clock wake you up, it BASE jumps off your night stand and runs away to make sure you are really awake. You need to chase it down to turn it off.

Clocky, PopGadget noticed, came out as a concept prototype last year and is finally available at Nanda Home for about $50.

The alarm clock offers one snooze option of up to nine minutes and after that takes off over rug or wood floor.

In a software-driven world, it's easy to forget about the nuts and bolts. Whether it's cars, robots, personal gadgetry or industrial machines, Candace Lombardi examines the moving parts that keep our world rotating. A journalist who divides her time between the United States and the United Kingdom, Lombardi has written about technology for the sites of The New York Times, CNET, USA Today, MSN, ZDNet, Silicon.com, and GameSpot. You gotta be kidding!

This would last less than five seconds after it went off. I'd stomp it to death for such a rude awakening. Never in my bedroom!

I thought i posted this, but didn't see it so i am posting it again
for me, if i still used an alarm clock, it would be great. i used to have a snooze alarm right near my bed and another alarm clock across the room.

I don't use alarm clocks except for early travel days because I want to wake up naturally. I would HATE this. It would ruin my day completely.

I'd say I'd hate it but when I think of it I hate all alarm clocks. The thing is I put my alarm clock out of arms reache when I need to get up cause I'd just keep hitting the snooze button. Come on, am I the only one that has a hard time getting up in the mornings?

I don't think so...

I'd let the SOB run away so I could go back to sleep--maybe it would fall down a flight of stairs and break into a thousand pieces then I could continue to awaken softly the next morning with my old alarm clock that plays music when it's time to get up! :-)

Someone's mother invented this.

That's just cruel.
I can see it now:
1) Hit snooze
2) nine minutes passes
3) runaway alarm clock
4) becomes cat's toy
5) and you never find the darned thing
6) until you trip on it, barefoot.

I got a kick out of the concept but that thing is NOT nice.
