Microsoft's official women's laptop bags. Uh, yeah.

If Steve Jobs had anything to say about it, any "official laptop bag" created by Microsoft would probably be a giant fanny pack in '80s-style Day-Glo colors that was desperately trying to be cool. Just imagine it worn by John "I'm a PC" Hodgman. But remember, Vista has made Microsoft cool. (They wine-and-dined us at Cipriani, after all.) So, Ballmer & co. have commissioned luggage manufacturer Samsill to create its official laptop bags geared toward female customers, as recently seen on ShinyShiny. They might not be real leather (poly with accents of "leather-look vinyl") but they still look pretty stylish. The three styles, called the "Madison," "Manhattan," and "Monticello" (from left to right in the image) range in price from $50 to $70. And though they're specifically "ladies'" bags, I think your average hardcore metrosexual could get away with the Monticello.

They'll be available on Amazon.com starting on the 15th, so unfortunately, you won't be able to grab one as a Valentine's Day gift. Maybe that's a good thing.

Okay, and on a completely unrelated note--when is John Hodgman going to guest-star on The Office? It seems like such a natural fit.

Vista has made Microsoft cool?

Was that sarcasm?

My opinion of Microsoft has only worsened as they release an OS described by even CNET as an expensive XP service pack, and nothing more.

The Designer Handbags has some definite strong points.

* The leather is nice and smooth.
* Designer handbags are not the cheapest which adds to their exclusivity.
* It goes without saying that they are made to the most exacting standards using the highest quality materials.
* This extends the life of the bag which should give years of use and pleasure.

Thanks
