Creative to release 'blood-red' Zen V Plus

Last September, much to my chagrin, Creative launched an 8GB version of the Zen V Plus in Asia but not in the U.S. At this year's CES, I received confirmation that the company will be releasing an 8GB model here in the states. The device is slated to hit shelves in February with a palatable $219 price tag. Oh, and it's decked out in a shiny black finish with really fantastic blood-red accents.

For more than five years, Jasmine France has covered a variety of tech products for CNET--from scanners to keyboards to GPS devices--but she's happiest where she is now: sitting atop a pile of MP3 players, "testing" every music service known to man, and jamming a variety of earbuds in every shape and color into her absurdly small ears. E-mail Jasmine.

Hey what is with Feb release, I have the 8 GB now
by nutjob January 16, 2007 5:41 PM PST
I currently have a Zen V plus 8GB. I use about 3.5 GB for music (yahoo music subscription), 2GB for podcast, and 1GB for file transfer and storage. The other space is empty. It is blue, not red. The only thing this baby is missing is a way to clip it on. Hanging it around your neck is not that cool at the gym or running.

I got it directly from Creative. Note the video is basically useless (who wants to see a video thumbside) and the FM weak. It only picks up very strong signals. They should have used the earbud connection for an antenna.

Thanks for letting know about weak FM

I was very strongly leaning towards this one but I wanted to know more about the FM quality and if it's weak, then it's a no-go.
So, thanks for the tip ;)

FM Reception depends on location.

The FM antenna is built into the headphone and it's perfectly clear in NYC. The blue version has been out here in 8GB's but the elusive red version was no where to be found. It was the color mentioned in Creative's press release for the 8GB capacity so I'm glad we're finally seeing it.
