New buds give hope to neglected ears

We've been accused of paranoia more than a few times, but we really do believe that there's a conspiracy afoot when it comes to earphones. We submit that earbuds and the like never fit anyone (especially us), but people are too embarrassed to admit it. They instead just constantly fidget and adjust them, pretending that it's "normal."

This is why we appreciate Bluetrek's new "ST1" Bluetooth earphones, which have a novel wraparound design that's actually meant to keep the buds in your ears. Mobile Magazine says they also have built-in controls allowing for "super-easy navigation without having to resort to the music-playing device." The buds are available only in South Korea for now, but barren ears around the world finally have hope.

I can't stand the earphones that come with most gadgets. They never fit properly into my ear canal, and I simply can't understand why people find them acceptable. Even more baffling is when you see people purchase a new pair of these because they are 'cheap.'

My current favorites for earphones are the Sony MDR-EX71 earbuds which come with 3 sizes of rubber covers to fit all ear sizes. The design lends itself naturally to noise isolation without the use of electronic noise cancellation.

Finally, a company is acknowledging the fact that earbuds are NOT universal! I have NEVER been able to use them and have to keep that in mind when purchasing things like mp3 players. Sony and RCA also offer the ingenious ear-hook style sets which give me freedom from the traditional headset but I'm still waiting for some more affordable in-th-ear memory-foam style buds...now that would be perfect for anyone!!
