Solar hat leaves us (almost) speechless

We're all in favor of solar energy, but it's products like this that gave rise to the phrase "too much of a good thing."

The Japan Organization for the Promotion of Renewable Energy has devised this "solar-powered fan hat," according to Tokyo-based Plastic Bamboo. It has a solar panel perched precariously on top, which powers a fan poking through a hole in the bill of the cap. (Not kidding.)

It's not that we have anything against the idea but, come on, look at this thing. Whoever is willing to wear one of these probably has a bed full of Dashboard pillows too. As for us, we'd rather just fry.

I own one and it's GREAT!

I bought a similar hat last summer, and I will never be without one again. There's nothing like having a fresh breeze on your face no matter how still or humid the air is. Don't turn up your nose at this nifty gadget.
The only comments I get from people are positive.
"Where can I get one?" being the most common.

I had a hat like this that was my grandpa's. I think I got it at least ten years ago. I see its making a comeback.

Actually, i sell a nifty solar powered light cap in australia that was developed in new zealand called the 2C sol;ar lightcap and I get a load of people telling me about the solar fan caps.
I travel through the outback and the folks who have (or had) one rave about not only the cooling breeze, but also it's great for keeping the bushflies away.
Check out the 2C solar lightcaps...it makes the other headlamps look old!
