Palm Treo cast in 'A Good Year'
The Pa;m Treo smart phone stars in Russell Crowe's new movie.
The Palm Treo might really want to start thinking about getting a Hollywood agent. The smart phone, which this year made small-screen appearances on shows including How I Met Your Mother, CSI: Miami, The Nine and Boston Legal, has landed a starring role in A Good Year with Russell Crowe. Don't let all the red-carpet action go to your head, Treo.

The film, which opens Friday, is directed by Ridley Scott, the same guy behind the classic 1984 Super Bowl commercial that launched Apple's Macintosh computer.
In A Good Year, Crowe plays London-based investment expert Max Skinner, who moves to Provence to sell a small vineyard he inherited from his late uncle. The Treo smart phone makes its presence known over and over with its signature ring tone and messaging and multimedia capabilities.
Product placement, and how! But Palm said it does not pay for the TV and movie appearances, and instead relies on the Treo's reputation to get it parts.
Gadgets continue to play an increasingly prominent role in films these days. Without giving any of the plot away, cell phones are absolutely central to the plot of Scorsese's The Departed. And seriously, how much did you love DiCaprio's character in that one?
