Like the idea of looking like a gunslinger in an old Western?
Online Japanese design shop Roberu has created a leather carrier that looks like a gun holster to carry mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras (ILCs) such as the Sony Alpha NEX-5N, Olympus Pen E-PL3, and Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF5, to name a few.
The rationale behind the carrier's design, according to the site, is that the holster lets the photographer quickly whip out the camera to shoot a passing scene. The leather holster is usually worn on the wearer's waist using a supplied leather belt.
Although this camera holster design isn't new, we like that Roberu's version is handmade using genuine leather, which would give it that vintage worn-in look after prolonged use. The unevenness of real leather also means no two cases are identical, making them more unique compared with mass-produced, nylon varieties.
Available in black, dark brown, and camel (medium brown), the leather camera holster retails at 18,900 yen ($242) at the Roberu online store.
