SanDisk Extreme SSD review: Standard and affordable
The SanDisk Extreme solid-state drive won't surprise you, but it's one of the best deals among SATA 3-based SSDs on the market.

In fact, it's very standard, with a 9.5mm 2.5-inch design like most laptop hard drives. In my testing, the drive boosted the test machine's overall performance a great deal. However, that's what you'd expect from a SATA 3-based SSD; again, standard.
What makes the drive just slightly different from most others is its aluminum chassis, which makes the drive very sturdy and good-looking, though not as good-looking as the Samsung 830 series. Where the SanDisk is more appealing than the Samsung is the pricing. The Extreme comes in capacities of 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB that cost $180, $318, and $799, respectively, so it's one of the most affordable SATA 3 on the market.
SanDisk Extreme is a fine performer
This $1.3-per-gigabyte pricing more than makes up for the Extreme's average data transfer performance and it's one of the best SSD values right now, especially the 240GB capacity.
