Trendnet announced today that it is now shipping the 450Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N true dual-band router (model TEW-692GR).

This is the first router on the market to offers the higher 450Mbps speed on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands.

So far all other 450Mbps dual-band routers--such as the Linksys E4200, the Belkin N750DB, and the Netgear N750-- offer the 450Mbps speed on only the 5Ghz band, while the 2.4Ghz band remains at the regular 300Mbps.

The TEW-692GR was first announced at CES 2011 and is one of a few true-dual band routers that don't have a USB port, meaning it can't host a printer or an external storage device.

Other than the dual 450Mbps feature, it offers a standard set of networking features, such as Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi Protected Setup, and WMM technology that further prioritizes video and audio packets.

Note that in order to take advantage of the higher 450Mbps speed on either band, your wireless client must support this new standard, too.

The new 450Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N router comes with a three-year warranty and costs a hefty $250.
