Jelly Belly phone cases: Scratch 'n' sniff your iPhone

Wrap your iPhone, BlackBerry, or iPod in the scent of your favorite jelly bean flavor with the ESI line of Jelly Belly cases. Just don't lick your smartphone in public.

I've often heard it said that smell is the most powerful of our five senses. I just never thought I would be inhaling the luscious fruity scent of my smartphone case.

You may soon catch people huffing their iPhones, BlackBerrys, and iPods, however, with the release of ESI's Jelly Belly line of cases. This is scratch 'n' sniff for the tech crowd.

The plastic cases come scented with one of five popular Jelly Belly flavors: Strawberry Cheesecake, Very Cherry, Blueberry, Licorice, and Berry Blue. What, no Root Beer? That's my favorite.

ESI is also releasing a set of companion in-ear headphones in the shape of jelly beans. Alas, the headphones have no scent. Pick up a case or a set of headphones for $14.99.

If these cases are a hit, maybe ESI will delve into some of the more exotic flavors like Chili Mango, Toasted Marshmallow, or Cantaloupe. Wow, I didn't even know there was a cantaloupe-flavored jelly bean until I looked it up.

There's no word yet on just how powerful the odors are with these cases. It's possible that you may could into a room and cause everyone to look around for the arrival of a cheesecake. You may also be tempted to nibble on your case between meals. Stay strong, my friend. These cases aren't actually edible; they just smell like it.
