In Paris, a jet-powered Jag, a tiny Land Rover, and five Lotus concepts

We just returned from the press preview of the 2010 Paris Motor Show, which is open to the public from now until October 17, where we saw a hybrid turbine car from Jaguar, iPads in a BMW, a scary Lamborghini, a compact SUV from Land Rover, and every car Lotus will build up to 2015.

Jaguar C-X75 concept
Jaguar's C-X75 is one of those concept cars we wish was in production right now. An innovative hybrid powertrain using micro-turbines means it hits 60 mph in about 3.4 seconds yet gets about 36 mpg.

Lamborghini's Sesto Elemento concept shows how light the company can make a V-10 with all-wheel-drive. And it also shows how positively sinister a car can look.

BMW put a car on display, a European 1-series, that used the company's new rear seat iPad docks and dashboard iPhone dock.

Land Rover Evoque
The Evoque from Land Rover shows a new era of small car luxury. More surprising was that the Evoque apparently sacrificed none of Land Rover's legendary off-road prowess.

And companies showed off a number of new cars at the show, among them Porsche, Volvo, BMW, Bentley, and Audi. These cars encompassed updates to existing models, special editions, and completely new models.

Lotus lays out its 5 year plan
Lotus put no less than five concept cars on display, demonstrating a new direction for the company under its new chief designer Donato Coco, formerly of Ferrari. Amongst the new Lotus cars is an update to the Elise, a Ferrari competitor, and an executive sedan.
