Adding to Nikon's line of professional prime full-frame lenses, and announced along with the new D7000 camera, Nikon today announced the new AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f1.4G, and the AF-S NIKKOR 200m f2G ED VRII lenses. Both lenses are pro-grade, and are optimized for stills and HD video. They share Nikon's Nano-Crystal Coat and Silent Wave Motor technology, and each has a nine blade aperture for a natural bokeh.
The new AF-S NIKKOR 35mm F1.4G adds to the line of f1.4G lenses Nikon has announced this year. It is a very useful lens, with a versatile 35mm field of view, and a fast f1.4 maximum aperture--perfect for hand-held low light photography. The lens has an equivalent 35mm focal length of 52.5mm when used on a DX body or in DX crop mode with an FX body. Optically the lens contains 10 elements in seven groups, with one aspherical element for sharper images at the widest aperture. Two autofocus modes are available, M/A(manual- priority auto focus) and M(manual) mode. It features Nikon's Rear Focus(RF) system so the front of the lens barrel does not rotate when focusing.
The AF-S NIKKOR 200mm F2G ED VRII lens is a very fast telephoto prime, which now has the addition of Nikon's VRII stabilization technology. Nikon claims it provides up to four stops of correction. That, combined with its fast aperture, makes it an excellent lens for all sorts of hand-held work, like sports, fashion, and nature photography, even in varied lighting conditions. The VRII has a Tripod Detection Mode for the tiny vibrations on a tripod, allowing the VR to stay turned on even when on a tripod. It is constructed of 13 elements in nine groups, with three Extra-Low Dispersion glass elements, as well as one Super ED glass element to minimize chromatic aberration. It has Internal Focusing(IF), so the barrel of the lens does not change in length as it is focusing.
In mid-November, the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f1.4G lens will be available for $1,799.95. In early October, the AF-S NIKKOR 200mm F2G ED VRII lens will be available for $5,999.95.
