We've already reviewed several external hard drives that use USB 3.0, but 3M just unveiled a monitor that connects to the new standard.

Pocket Lint posted the first images of the 3M demo monitor that displaying 1366 X 768 resolution on an 18.5-inch screen. Those specs might seem a little behind, but the real boon for USB 3.0 is its 5 gigabit bandwidth transmission compared to the 480 megabit limitation of USB 2.0.

The demo shows two USB 3.0 cables connected to a desktop computer powering the 8-watt display, since individual USB 3.0 ports can only juice up to 7W. Luckily, the monitor itself is environmentally friendly, drawing only half the power of a standard monitor.
