If not sexy, then...practical.

I've been looking forward to the Dell UltraSharp U2410 with as much (or more) anticipation as some of our most fervent readers.

I feel a lot of monitor enthusiasts were expecting perfection from this monitor, so I'll get this out of the way right now: It's not perfect.

This may seem more disappointing than with other monitors, but that's mostly because of the super high expectations the U2410 had prerelease.

The monitor includes a H-IPS panel, one of the newer iterations of IPS panel technology and one that I have little hands-on experience with. Some of the problems I encountered with the monitor could be inherent to the technology, but having not dealt with another H-IPS, I can't say for certain.

Still, it earned our editors' choice, so it must have done something right. Right?!

So, the cat's out of the bag. The Dell UltraSharp U2410 isn't perfect; however, that doesn't mean it can't be perfect for you. Read the full review to determine if it is.

As always, new monitor reviews can always be found here.

The following product mentioned is available.

On Sale Now: $549.00 - $799.99

Newsfash: "newsfash" isn't a word, and it's on your headline. That's just funny and sad.

Seriously, the level of editing on Cnet is abysmal. I guess professional print standards went the way of professional print,

I'll add "but having not dealt with another H-IPS, I can't saw for certain." You couldn't saw the product? With a hacksaw or maybe a reciprocating saw?

Doesn't an editor have to check these articles before they're published?

Sorry about those typos guys. Luckily, the copy editors saved my butt, after the fact of course.

It's really strange looking from profile view, like it could snap off that tiny hinge if sneeze too hard.

I have 2 Dell U2410's. One has a faint greenish tint, the other looks fine. There have been a lot of reports about pinkish and greenish tints in these monitors. I have made numerous adjustments to the green monitor and the tint remains. I'm talking to Dell about this.

Do not buy this monitor yet until they fix some problems. The sRGB and Adobe RGB presets have dithering issues (google black level testing and you should see the dithering problem when switching in between presets, also google dithering and u2410). It also has pink/green tinting issues. You can test this by putting up an all gray image and the tinting problem is easily discernible. You can google the tinting issue too.

My monitor has both of these problems. This is a professional level monitor that suffers from low class monitor issues.

Good notes are that the touch buttons on the side are very cool along with the stand.

I highly recommend you refrain from purchasing this up until Dell responds to these issues. I got screwed and got the first version, learn from me and wait for at least the second revision.

Btw, I got my monitor just recently (12-12-2010) and it was manufactured in Nov 2009 in Mexico.
