Sony updates PSP Go firmware, games list
One of our biggest complaints about the PSP Go seems to be partially addressed today as the portable console officially goes on sale. Sony has updated the Go's firmware to 6.10, which introduces a new PlayStation Store interface and access to a much larger portion of original PSP games.
While the selection of games is still nowhere near complete, some notable titles added today are God of War: Chains of Olympus, Madden NFL 10, Gran Turismo, and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge. Also hitting the store today are PSP Minis, smaller, less-expensive download-only games that range in price from $5 to $10.
Firmware version 6.10 also introduces SensMe, Sony's answer to iTunes' Genius List. SensMe takes a look at your audio library and adjusts playlists according to your "mood."
Though this update is for all PSP models, another noteworthy update that concerns the PSP Go specifically is the ability to tether a mobile phone to the device and use its data network as an access point. While this will only work with mobile phones that allow for such a thing, we can't imagine the speed being any better than what we experienced with a standard Wi-Fi router.

It's such bullcrap how I would have to pay for games I already paid for.
Pricce is a barrier for people, absolutely, so maybe this isnt for you, dont you think?
You could probably buy a Hyundai, but can you buy a Bentley? a phantom? dont think so.
So for crying out loud just get a better job, i have mines ands is what i wanted, not what i needed, same goes for you.
Buy a 3000, is the same thing,
Well i like this i would buy it.......But too many things to think about buying these year
The price? too expensive? agree...
Lack of second analog? agree..
Expensive games?agree...
Lack of games?agree...
You see, if you wanted to bash em for that you would be right, under your four walls.
Thing is that this device is not a necesity, is a want.
You could pretty much buy a 3000 for 50 less, a 2000 for almost 100 less, and they will do almost everything you could do with the go. Sony is not slaping you, cause you havent, not wont, (no doupt due to the lack of green in your account) so stop whining. Get a 3000 and try to get a better job, not all toys are for poor people you know....
And just so you know, i would love a ferrari, but im stuck with my infinity......... do the math
How large is that average game? In other words, roughly how many games can you sqeeze into 16gb?
I thought they were going to bundle GT with the Go, but I'm not seeing that offered anywhere. Am I missing something?
Any word on adding trophies in the future?
So what's new? Well, Bluetooth for a start which is a step in the right direction, but it does reduce playtime by about half an hour battery wise, or maybe I am having so much fun I didn't notice the time flying! The sound quality through headphones is top notch - better than my mp3 player or laptop and I have heard a few notes and lyrics that I hadn't noticed before. Smaller screen though, which is a shame as the 4.2" screen was a big plus on the PSP1000-3000, but portability or rather pocket ability is the factor here. I have found that watching movies is easy enough and the screen is good enough to deliver some very fine detail despite the size.
Game play. If you are planning to go on line and shoot it up with a bunch of 13 year olds, then I think you would be better off with the standard PSP. The controls are on the small side and you have got to balance the thing too. I am sure the likes of LocoRoco or Patapon will be OK, but anything requiring speed and accuracy of digits could be more than challenging. I have completed the fabulous Resistance Retribution on my early PSP 1003 and got most of the skill points too, but have been struggling with just the demo on the PSP Go.
However, the great thing about the 'Go is the portability. The PSP is a great system. Don't forget that when it is connected to your PS3, you now have BBCi player and VidZone, a video jukebox application with thousands of song titles; hardly worth mentioning you have an inboard Internet Radio too. Some time ago I was using my PSP connected to my PS3 through the Internet, listening to music streamed from my PC acting as a Media server. I could view all my thousands of photographs too and of course video too. The Sony PSP and PS3 system is the bee's knees and in my view the ultimate gadget, but if games are your only interest, then get an X-Box and play at home!
If you already have a PSP, Sony are offering you a choice of three games which will be yours to download once you receive the email in response to your claim. It's all done through the Playstation Store. Anyone can also claim Grand Turismo too as long as they are tooled up with a PSP Go by October 10th; I suppose it's Sony's way of softening the wallet blow and saying thanks.
Many years ago when I was 11, I remember making my own crystal set. Meanwhile a new device, the transistor, had just been invented and apparently it could replace valves. On the cover of my Practical Wireless monthly was a photo with the banner "Build Your Own 6 Transistor Pocket Radio". I couldn't afford 1 transistor, let alone 6. They were 50p each, my pocket money for 10 weeks! I remember thinking that one day every thing would be pocket sized, radios, TV's and who knows what else. That day came some time ago, but the PSP Go is truly the stuff dreams were made of. Wireless shrank the planet. The PSP Go shrinks your whole world of entertainment into one very neat pocketable package. It even makes Phone calls via Skype. This surely is the greatest thing since the crystal set.
Anyway its too much money right now for the fact that the ps3 is $300, i held off hoping that they come out with a holiday bundle. But $250 for a handheld and $40 for a downloaded game is TOO much.
Overall I am very pleased with it and am glad I bought it (Even if I have to go to my local Barnes and Noble or Burger King just to download games as I don't have wireless internet in my house) 10/10
hmmm, maybe they are experimenting on the rest of the world before setting a price for the home team. normally we're waiting for months after they've had it to play with. very weird.
bit like killing whales is "research" when you box it up and sell it to restaurants.
you gotta love their unique way of thinking sometimes :)
