Behold! The retro gaming force is strong with this one-of-a-kind R2-D2 replica by PopSci reader Brian De Vitis. The Star Wars droid was meticulously built from a cooler and houses no less than seven discontinued game consoles, a sound system, and a projector.

Based on the controllers shown in the image, our resident gaming guru has identified most of the consoles. They include the original Microsoft Xbox; Sony PlayStation; various editions of the Nintendo Entertainment System, aka NES; Sega Genesis; and Dreamcast. Give us a heads-up via Talkback below if you can recognize the joystick-like controllers and light guns on the extreme right.

The light guns are zappers for the original NES.

I'm going to say the joysticks are from the Atari 2600.

This would be amazing if it also had a projector inside.

The projector is built into the headpiece, right? Doesn't the caption for the 2nd photo say, "A top view of the R2-D2 console droid without the projector." ?

On the right; The long black controller with the silver top and short black stick is for the Atari 7800. The black and red controllers on the far right with the short red stick are Wico Ergonomic joysticks from the Amiga era. There are also some Atari 2600 paddles just above the Atari 7800 controller.

I'm a fan of the vintage stuff. And more specifically, the NES, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo Gamecube are all represented.

I think the black and red joysticks on the right-hand side under the light gun are Epyx brand. I had some for the C=128 back in the day. They were compatible with Atari 2600 as well.
