This month in video games screenshots: September 2009
While Batman: Arkham Asylum may have saved the summer's brutal video game drought, it looks like September will really bring the goods. With this resurgence of quality gaming titles also comes our monthly slideshow tradition.
Both virtual band franchises have major releases this month as Guitar Hero 5 and The Beatles: Rock Band go head to head.
The Wii gets some exclusive love this month with two notable releases that include Dead Space Extraction and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. It seems portable gaming also gets a much-needed boost with the release of Bowser's Inside Story, Scribblenauts, and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge.
Hockey fans will be able to start the season early with two releases on the same day. Both NHL 10 and NHL 2K10 are set to drop the gloves on September 15.
There's a whole lot more to see by checking out our slideshow. What September video games are you looking forward to?
Before covering games and gear for CNET Reviews, Jeff Bakalar dabbled in film and video production. An avid writer, reader, and gamer, Jeff is also an obsessive New Jersey Devils hockey fan. Catch him live every day as the co-host of CNET's infamous podcast, The 404.

But just between October 13th and November 17 we will also see:
Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, Assassins Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Borderlands, FM3 & R&CF: Crack in Time.
Not sure what your tastes are, but thats a pretty strong lineup for a 5 week window. Toss in MW2 and you've got 8 AAA titles in a little over a month.
I have NHL 08 and, unless I'm thinking of something else, board pinning is in that game. Just press 'A' (on the 360) and the defenseman will pin the puck carrier up against the glass for a second or two.
I'm also having a ton of fun with the Batman PC demo. I wonder why they didn't make a Wii version using the animated style of the old cartoon series. Could have been like Madworld .. but good.

(6 Comments)I really shouldn't complain, it's not like I won't have anything else to burn through.
If they keep pushing things into the 1st of the year, we'll end up with the same backlog they've been trying to avoid this fall! It'll just be in Feb-Mar instead of Oct-Nov.
