Attitude Chair (Credit: Voos Furniture)

High-back, leather executive chairs that let you lean backward are really cushy (and expensive), but you can achieve the same effect and not (totally) burn a hole in your wallet with the $500 Attitude Chair.

Unlike conventional seats, this contraption by Deger Cengiz is fitted with two additional legs. In normal upright position, these legs won't touch the floor. But as you lean back, they roll out to replace the two front legs that have just been lifted off the ground.

We're assuming the pair stops at a fixed angle to prevent you from tipping over. While you can't really play executive in a wooden chair like this, at least you won't embarrass yourself by falling backward.

Yeah, buy an 8' 2x2, some carriage bolts and an old kitchen chair from a junk store and a half hour later you have saved almost $500.

The only attitude I see in that chair is the manufacturer's balls to ask that much for it.

Or you could buy a similar plan chair for under 100 and make those extra legs yourself. And btw, $500 for a nice office chair may be worth it, but $500 for that thing is a major rip off.

Wasn't there a Simpsons episode in which Homer invented a chair that was pretty much the same thing?

I was just thinking the same thing...

Actually, it was Thomas Edison (though only in the Simpsons universe, not in real life) who created the chair first.

I was also thinking the same thing. To quote South Park, "Simpson's did it."

And $500? What a rip off!

Now if only someone would steal, er... invent Homer Simpson's toilet recliner, I'd be set.

I believe you meant either "contraption" or "concept". " Unlike conventional seats, this contraception...." Something tells me the chair probably doesn't have to worry about getting pregnant....Not because she's a chair, but mostly because she is so homely that nobody would bed her.

Funny typo. Yes, your instincts were quite right on that one. The writer meant contraption. Fixed.

I saw it in a Simpsons Episode some time ago.

Where I went to college, they had anti-tipping chairs. And I'm pretty certain they didn't cost anywhere near $500 seems how every person in the dorms had one at the desk the school provided. They were also used in the common areas of the dorms. They weren't too much more complex than this idea; they just had a bar that vaguely resembled skis. It wasn't curved in the back like skis, but it angle up about 15-20 degrees to give you a solid balancing platform. They worked pretty well, but it was still possible to tip over, and really funny when you see someone actually do it.

more than that having my two boys heads
