PS3 Slim (Credit: Sony)

This week, we finally met the much-anticipated PlayStation 3 Slim, which features pretty much the same hardware as its predecessor but has a thinner chassis, vertically and horizontally.

As my colleague Josh Lowensohn notes, however, the PS3's more compact cousin is part of a shrinking-console trend over the last several years. And that got us wondering: in this era of ever-tinier gear, which other gadgets would you most like to see getting smaller?

Vote in our poll, and as always, feel free to sound off in our comments section below.

Bigger isn't always necessarily better...at least not in the tech toys world. We all remember the monstrosity that was the first generation Zune(ick). In a time when space is becoming more and more of a premium, we need our products to fit in nicely. This is not always the case--bulky DVR's come to mind, but if this "shrinking" trend continues, then we have a lot to look forward to(sorry early adopters of new technology, your outta luck).

Where is the Xbox360? It needs to slim down and get rid of the power brick.

iPod Shuffle. It's way too big. I won't be happy until it becomes part of the headphones. I don't need navigation controls. It will decide what to play and when you turn on and off.

I hate my current DVR [Comcrap HD DVR]. It's definitely a huge power hog, lags/freezes/glitches out when playing back HD recordings, has a non-upgradeable 120GB drive, only about on out of every four of the connection/ports even function and the rest are hardware-locked for a future firmware update that EVERYONE knows is never going to happen. Evidently the esata port on the back is for looks. My first DVR had an HDMI output on the back that did not work whatsoever. The 120GB drive is 3.5" which is way less efficient that a 2.5" equivalent. It puts out a tremendous amount of heat. Also there's no way to actually turn the f***ing thing off besides ripping the power cord out. It doesn't need "slimming down" so much as a complete redesign.
