Video games with night vision goggles, what next?

Call of Duty with NVG (Credit: InfinityWard)

I recently finished David Morrell's "Scavenger," about a deadly hide-and-seek taking place within the labryrinthine innards of a pitch-black hotel. Not surprisingly, night vision goggles show up in this dark (literally and figuratively) thriller, and it's a premise that seems tailor-made for video-dom. Until someone picks up the idea, the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 "Prestige Edition" is one video title that comes packed with a full working version.

While it's questionable how this will actually add to the immersive gameplay since there's no discernable use for the eyewear, gamers who like to be "in the role" will probably fork out the lucre anyway--reportedly about $149.99, which is cheap given the NVGs. Plus, one can be pretty sure they'll find some other, cough, creative use for the goggles eventually.

I find that to be silly. I never really understand the special edition craze, I just want to play the full retail game.

That looks sweet. Although, I wouldn't fork out the extra money to get it.

NV Googles are awesome and I'm definitely picking it up. You know what's tougher then playing Call of Duty: MW2 on Veteran. Playing Call of Duty: MW2 on Veteran with your night vision googles on while you play - now that is hardcore. Think about it.

Has anyone taken a good look at the NVGs? They're like Playskool NVGs for goodness sake! What a piece of carp! You might as well buy these: http://www.amazon.com/EyeClops-Vision-Infrared-Stealth-Goggles/dp/B00153F5QA.

And don't give me any lip about collector's value, 'cause there won't be any. Case in point, Halo 3 Legendary Edition now goes for as little as $68 bucks new.
