Wacky Wii accessory: Wi-Bowl bowling ball

by David Carnoy

Mark it zero, dude.

We missed this little item at E3, but apparently CTA Digital has a bowling ball accessory in the works.

The thing actually splits in half; you stick your Wiimote inside, slip the wrist strap on, and start knocking down virtual pins. We assume there are some finger holes on the other side of the ball, but we doubt the thing weighs even half as much as a real bowling ball (that would be scary).

Of course, you're not supposed let go of the ball, and CTA Digital has a rather ominous disclaimer in all caps on its site:

USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT. CTA DIGITAL, INC IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE BOWLING BALL ATTACHMENT.

No word on when the accessory will be released or how much it will cost, but it is compatible with the following Wii bowling games: Wii Sports bowling, Brunswick Pro Bowling, Ten Pin Alley 2, AMF Bowling: World Lanes, and AMF Bowling: Pinbusters!

CTA Digital also makes Knockout Gloves for Wii. We're not sure if these accessories are really stupid or really cool. Comments?

The Knockout Gloves are compatible with all Wii Boxing titles.

Wow, double fail. Work on the games, Nintendo. Not the accessories.

Wow EPIC FAIL. Read the article as it says nothing about NIntendo making these.

Umm... I believe it's a 3rd party vendor designing these accessories, not Nintendo. So.. single fail?

Little do you know about vedio games.Oh how nice calling people stupid as well............

This is honestly the worst thing I have heard of for Wii. The only cool accessory I've heard of is the spray paint ca from that company in Sweden. At least that will have a game attached and is artistic.

Won't this just perpetuate the problem with people letting go of their remotes?

Do any of these items actually enhance the gameplay experience? If they don't then I don't see the point. While a wii bowling bowl may look "cool" people will not buy it just because of that if they do not perceive it to have an associated functional aspect, such as making it easier to play bowling

I'd buy them both together if they we're in the bargain bin and sold together for like $5 just for the novelty. But since they'll both probably cost $20 or more when/if they release, I'll have to pass.

Hey, at least people would be less likely to throw their controllers at their TV when they are attached to the boxing gloves like that. Of course, that would deny us hours of quality Youtube footage...

honesty........ do you realy play vedio games? let alone a Wii?

When are people going to stop bashing produced that dont have to cost more then what they are worth? PSP3 etc types of followers.

Wii owners are the ones that enjoy games and now wht the want to buy and use.
