Monday was all about the iPhone 3G S, and if you want to be among the first to get your hands on one, AT&T has just announced that pre-ordering is now possible at its new iPhone Web site.

Only phones for full contracts are currently available, and we have no idea what the wait time is, but the faster you sign up the faster you'll get yours shipped to you. Both the 16GB and 32GB are available for pre-order, with the 8GB iPhone 3G available for order right now.

Of course, you could take your chances and wait in line in a week and a half at a retail store, which is probably more fun. But if you're a stickler and really want to open presents like on Christmas Day, then this is the way to go.

Why wait in line? Go preorder it NOW from your local AT&T store. Order will be filled on a first come basis. You'll get it when they get their initial order. Plus you can get two unlike online where you can only order one, even if you sign up for a family plan, I ordered mine and here is what my confirmation email said.

Thank you for shopping with AT&T. Your iPhone 3G S has been reserved. iPhone 3G S availability is expected on or after June 19, 2009. Another email will be sent when your iPhone 3G S arrives at the AT&T store, confirming your order is ready for pick up.

Even the AT&T floor host didn't know anything about when the G3 was being released, he was telling new customers it might arrive in August, doesn't anyone do their research anymore?? Any way, can't wait!! But at least I have one reserved, no waiting in line for me!!

I tried to pre-order mine yesterday online (haven't tried at a store yet). Problem was my upgrade date is 6/20 and the pre-order system is assuming you are pre-ordering for 6/19. Therefore, it kept giving me the price of 399 for the 16G 3Gs, rather than the 199 I'd qualify for 1 day later. I talked to 3 people over the phone in sales and was told they couldn't over-ride the online pre-order date of 6/19.

I'll go to a store today and see if I can pre-order for 6/20, rather than 6/19.
