Amazon.com says its Kindle DX e-book reader will start shipping on June 10. "The Kindle DX is currently available for pre-order and all orders are prioritized on a first come, first served basis," the company said Monday in a statement.

Not to much to add at this point other than we'll post a review on the 10th. In the meantime, you can check out our lengthy first take of the jumbo-screen e-reader.

Has anybody ordered one yet--or thought about buying one? Or is the DX just too pricey at $489?

Pretty cool, but at that price why not just buy a laptop.

because one already has one or more laptops. the really important and attractive feather about kindle as well as other ebook readers is the eink screen. it's a completely different experience comparing with the conventional lcd screen.

I ordered the Kindle DX on the day it was announced... am eagerly awaiting delivery.

I travel constantly for work and am tired of lugging around heavy books... just bought another thick programming guide for work... that's 5 extra pounds in my suitcase this week.

Those of you who think the Kindle is too expensive just don't understand the value... I will be able to carry my entire library (technical, business and pleasure reading) plus be able to read my hometown paper anywhere in the US. That's TOTALLY worth $500.

Comparing the Kindle to a netbook is like comparing a blender to an electric razor... they are two totally different things.

ima pre orderone soon. im a student and the crap load of books i buy every year adds up to 800 bucks so the price of the kindle isnt so bad. it will be worth not carying the massive load of books with me from school to home.

cant wait for it to come out.

If you read novels or can't even read then it is over priced. Students or business types will not think this is over priced.
