Although Sony's E3 press conference isn't until 11 a.m. Tuesday, one of its centerpieces appears to have been prematurely exposed. A YouTube video of what appears to be the next issue of the PlayStation-focused video magazine Qore has revealed that Sony will use its event to unveil a new PSP model, the PSP Go.
Sony is expected to unveil the PSP Go at its press conference Tuesday at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
As had been widely rumored, the PSP Go will have a sliding form factor like the Mylo, Sony's ill-fated Internet communicator device. The new handheld--which does not sport a second thumbstick--is shown several times in the video, which features Qore host Veronica Belmont and John Koller, director of hardware marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America.
According to Koller, the main differences between the PSP Go and the PSP 3000 are "on-board memory, the flash memory, and 16 gigs of space. There's Bluetooth on board as well, so you can use a Bluetooth headset, and you can actually tether it to your cell phone as well. But ultimately, it's the portability. Since you can bring all that content with you in a smaller form factor, you've got the most immersive games to play, and now you've got a smaller unit to do it with."
Though he does not say that the device will not have a UMD (Universal Media Disc) drive--as is rumored--he did say that the emphasis will be on downloadable games. "Little Big Planet, Jak & Daxter, Metal Gear Solid--all those will be available. So will all the movies you can rent or buy on the PlayStation Network. So you can bring so much content over with you and fill up that 16 gig of flash memory."
Koller also appears to reveal that the long-lost PSP Gran Turismo Mobile game--first shown off in 2004--will resurface at next week's expo. "There are games like Gran Turismo being announced at E3," said the executive.
Host Belmont then asks, "So since it's called the PSP Go, I would image it will work with Remote Play as well." Koller responds with the following blanket statement: "Integration with the PS3 is very important, and it works just like the PSP 3000. A lot of people like to be able to take their PS3 content with them on the go."
As for the PSP Go supplanting its predecessor, Koller said flatly: "It won't replace the PSP 3000. We're going to keep them both on the market." Koller did not mention a price, release date, or whether it would have a touch screen when closed. Sony Computer Entertainment America reps had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Its actually clear.
All this does it make me want to find a PSP-1000, hack it, make it awesome.
this thing is full of fail.
I'll get the ZuneHD!
honestly, if this was the device that they had dropped 4 years ago, it would have suffered the same fate as the Mylo
"Hey let's just ignore those gamers - what do they know! No we only need one joystick; hey to save space lets make it a bit squatter and shove it into this recessed hole"
So - no 2nd joystick for the FPS'ers out there (me included) and now even harder to play with. Wonder how long before someone gets carried away and snaps the screen from the main body in trying to twist their hands to the shape.
Think I will let my old PSP continue to collect dust in the cupboard and wait another few years for a console I can use. Maybe it will have some games worth playing that will exceed the number of digits on my hands.
Yawn Sony - YAWN!!!!!!!!!

I cant wait for this to come out!!!!!!
I'm not a big fan of buying stuff digitally.....but the whole thing looks clean......and its good to hear that its not a replacement to the 3000.....just another choice which means my psp will not be thrown away
Also will gran turismo mobile actually be coming out (finally), and compatible?!
I know that the user interface is going to be great but the hardware seems lacking, like so many others said before me.
With the iphone being the oh-so-awesome device that it is, and other phones catching up to it in several features, including gaming, which the iphone is pretty good at, I cannot see anybody except a teenager or a techgeek sporting one of these.
They SHOULD have included a bigger (pref OLED) screen, touch screen, second analog stick, accelerometer, or some other outlandish piece of hardware which would make someone actually want this. What the hell, just add some crazy Nvidia or ATI graphics card and market it as the next big leap in gaming. (Maybe nvidia/ati dont make so small Graphic cards but sony could convince them if they wanted. I know steve jobs could if he had to!!
I have always upgraded my psp with each new version but I am getting the feeling that I shouldnt this time. I'll buy it anyways, because I love the ps3 integration but I am getting the feeling that this product might not be so successful.
Its called rebranding, and so many suckers fall for it.

- I like the new look, and hate all the features that it's missing. As far as I'm concered the new PSP has 3 pro's (Looks, internal memory, and bluetooth), and too many con's (no UMDs, no 2nd joystick [I really wish Sony would listen to EVERYONE about that], no touch screen [that and UMDs would make it worth upgrading ANYDAY], no accelerometer, I'm probably not going to get games for it even if I do get it because you have to download them, what am I going to do with all the UMD games I have and love, etc. The PSP has such potential; why doesn't Sony realize that? All they need to do is listen to the people who see what the PSP is and what it needs to be truely great.
