A bonanza of AT&T smartphone rumors

If you weren't overwhelmed enough with all the upcoming smartphones slated to come out this summer, this will surely blow your mind. Over the Memorial Day weekend, Engadget Mobile hit the jackpot and got its hands on what appears to be a slide deck of all the remaining smartphones AT&T has planned for the rest of 2009.

The list is both exhaustive and impressive and includes devices from all platforms, such as the aforementioned Web OS-based Palm EOS and Android-powered HTC Lancaster, as well as some surprises from Nokia and HP. Here are just a few of the highlights of the slide deck:

HTC Warhawk, HTC Fortress: Behind the glamorized names, the Warhawk and Fortress are really the HTC Touch Diamond2 and HTC Touch Pro2, respectively. According to the slide, the Fortress had a target launch date of May 25, but obviously missed the mark. What's more interesting, though, is the red note at the bottom of the slide that reads, "WM 7.X refresh rewarded with Sept '09 launch date." Meanwhile, it looks like the Warhawk will ship with Windows Mobile 6.5 preinstalled and has a target launch date of August 24. Both smartphones will include support for AT&T's Video Share service, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, and Bluetooth.

Motorola Sawgrass, Motorola Heron: Two Android devices from Motorola that feature slider designs and full QWERTY keyboards. Highlights of the Sawgrass include integrated-blogging support, threaded-text messaging, HSDPA, A-GPS, and a 2-megapixel camera, while the Heron features a 2.8-inch QVGA touch screen, HSPDA, A-GPS, and "unique experiences related to location services and social networking."

RIM BlackBerry Onyx: A step above the BlackBerry 8900 (Curve) series, the BlackBerry Onyx touts tri-band UMTS/HSDPA, a full QWERTY keyboard, an HVGA display, and a 3.2-megapixel camera. CrackBerry.com actually got its hands on a preproduction unit and gave it positive reviews. Other AT&T BlackBerrys on tap include a HSDPA-loving BlackBerry Pearl, the BlackBerry Gemini, and the next evolution of the BlackBerry Bold, called the BlackBerry Magnum.

Nokia Mako: It's not exactly the swiveling Nokia that's been rumored for Verizon, but the Nokia Mako is certainly just as interesting. The S60-based device includes a slide-out, full, QWERTY keyboard and offers dual-band HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0, A-GPS, and a 2-megapixel camera.
