If you're a T-Mobile G1 owner who has been patiently waiting for your Android 1.5 update, we hate to be the ones to tell you that you're going to be waiting just a bit longer.

T-Mobile USA announced on Monday that it's still finalizing the build to "ensure optimal functionality and smooth delivery" so it has delayed pushing out the over-the-air update by one week. The carrier said it expects all G1 owners to have the Cupcake update by early June.

You can check out T-Mobile's official statement here.

Actually, the HTC Dream being distributed in other parts of the world is slightly different than the T-Mobile G1 and has a more modern, high-tech look to it. There are a couple of photos of it in this engadget article:

http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/12/htc-dream-coming-to-spain-via-telefonica-gets-a-facelift/

You can call it lame all you want over its aesthetics. I have owned a G1 since its initial launch. It is a durable quality device. I have friends who have gotten rid of their Iphones over ATT's shoddy network and highway robbery pricing structure. Cupcake will greatly improve the functionality of my phone by giving me stereo A2dP support and allowing me to use my memory card to store more programs. I've been waiting since October I can wait another week.

Cupcake, android 1.5, is officially released (finally) and you don't have to wait for TMobile to get around to sending it to you. Just download the update directly from Google and reboot. Here's a link:
http://androidguys.com/?p=5235#more-5235
