Rumor: Nokia N97 NAM to launch June 2

As if the first week of June wasn't packed enough with potential smartphone announcements, here's another one to throw into the mix. According to The Nokia Blog, the North American version (NAM) of the Nokia N97 will ship on June 2.

The Nokia Blog reported on this after it learned that the Finnish cell phone manufacturer contacted one of its North American distributors with the date. The N97 is available for preorder now from Nokia's Web site for $699. If you order now, Nokia will also throw in a free Nokia Bluetooth headset with your purchase.

should i buy this or verizon net book, they look the "same" but,the netbook is 400 dolars cheaper. at 199 even after breKING THE CONTRACT FOR 200 its still 200 cheaper. after all the n97 hype is slowly wearing off. its been so long since the rumours spread out . the only way thet survive is by gonig to metro pc wihch has no serious phone yet. but has millions of potential customers.

start saving as im certain you wont regret your decision! are you in school or college? you might have discounts as is with employers or maybe your parents employers or creit unions? my wifes employer offers her 25% for a major cell phone company, this is huge as compare to others, they also provide a 50% discount on accessories! many people over look this! good luck and remember the samsung android os is coming soon as rumor goes, and it sounds plent nice as well! -Brujo

To expensive as usual from nokia
It's funny how people were complaining
About the first iPhone as overpriced when it first released
But nokia's new phones were always expensive and overpriced
Especially for war they offer
I don't know about the n97
But the 5800 is unusable pos with a crappy browser
Horrible unresponsive touch screen along with crappy input keyboard
For Nokia's sake they better learn to concentrate more on user experience
Than packing uneeded features

all unlocked smartphones are pricy even iPhone is, what is your point here?

Umm seven7dust: the first iphone WAS overpriced at 499 with a contract...its 299 with a contract now.

Without a contract its 600$ and the N97 gives u a full keyboard, better camera, multi tasking, flash web browser and a whole host of other things that the iphone cannot...so who is getting ripped off?

The 5800 is a budget phone....compare apples to apples. N97 is a better deal than the iphone esp since with a contract (in europe) for instance its FREE or very heavily subsidized.
