GDC 2009: God of War III spotted, filmed

One of the big marquee games expected later this year (or early in 2010) is God of War III. It's a title industry watchers say is one of the few shots the beleaguered PlayStation 3 has left to score with a "system-seller," that will prompt fans to buy the expensive console just to play it.

Shown off behind closed doors at the Game Developer's Conference, it's not unexpected that someone in attendance (not us, we weren't even there) would surreptitiously film the secret presentation of early gameplay and promptly post it on YouTube (from there, it's popped up on almost every major game site).

Check out the shakycam footage below -- it certainly doesn't seem to stray far from the classic God of War style, with series protagonist Kratos fighting an assortment of enemies ripped stright from Bulfinch's Mythology.

It's definetely a good looking game, fast graphics too. I guess my question is why are they coming out so quickly? Does this series have replayability or do most users play through the story campaign and move on to the next game? If that's the case then I think I'd rather pay a smaller price for a couple of chapters at a time ... sort of a serial game instead of a full blown title every couple of years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm just as impatient as the next person but there's something a little epic about having to wait 3 years or so between titles.

if this game is anything like its predecessors, it absolutely has replayability. plenty of unlockables and shallenges to keep one busy for a while. i don't know much detail about GoW III, but if they add online multiplayer or something of that nature, that will add even more replayability.

It looks crazy good so far, and theres still months before it comes out. I actually want this game to take its time during development, because its looking rly good so far.

Can't wait for GOW3; 1 and 2 didn't disappoint at all. System seller, a definite possibility.

ok, so i'm not everyone else, but i bought the ps3 so i could play valkyria chronicles. i button mashed my way through gow, which is hardly memorable for me at this point.
of course, i was ready for a blu-ray player, so that sweetened the deal.
