Not only are there some really good deals on game consoles this holiday season, but also on games. Starting December 7, Best Buy is cutting prices for one week on some popular titles for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, making all the serious gamers holiday dreams come true.

This is only on selected titles, for both consoles:

Xbox 360: Tom Clancy's EndWar for $39.99, Civil War for $29.99, Legendary for 39.99, and Far Cry 2 for $39.99.

PlayStation 3: Konami Corp's Metal Gear Solid 4 for $39.99, Dangerous Hunts for $29.99, and The Simpsons game for $9.99

Online giant Amazon.com is making console bundle choices a tad more complicated with deals on the PlayStation 3. With that and the recent price drop of the Xbox 360, this should make for some hard holiday decisions.

A bundle known as the "high-definition promotion" gives the consumer $50 off the PlayStation 3, game, Blu-ray disc, and a remote.

For those looking for a backward compatibility, Amazon has restocked the PlayStation 3, 80GB Metal Gear 4 bundle for $499.99

Not to be outdone by Best Buy, Amazon.com is running a "15 Days, 15 Deals" promotion. That offers a special deal on a new video game each day for 15 days.

Damn, I wish I didn't make all my game purchases already.

$40 is a sale price?! Forget all that! get you an iPod Touch for $229...and never pay more than $10 for a game! Many are free, and many more are just $.99 to 5 bucks! Games need good gameplay, not just big screens, to be great, and there are many for iPhone...thousands! The games rival DS and PSP games at a fraction of the cost. No brainer! As a gaming platform, iPod Touch is cheaper than a Wii! You can bring it anywhere, and it does so much more than just games, it's an iPod with wi-fi internet!

I have an iPod Touch and it's amazing; I love it to death. However, it will never be a hardcore gaming device, or rather it currently isn't and until it's made into something more, it won't be. I love to play casual games on my iPod, but when I'm in a GAMING mood, I don't pull out my iPod Touch, I reach for a console controller or my computer.

@myles: I hear ya. But I also contend that the iPhone has enough good-enough games for it to be a viable resource for pulling out and playing when in GAMING mood. Seriously...and it is getting better. I know it's a matter of preference...and I want to promote the iPhone as a gaming platform so that it will have so many good games that almost anyone will consider it when in GAMING mood. For now, I do grant that if you're in a great FPS gaming mode, you need a good home console with tons of buttons.
