SanDisk goes halvesies on memory cards

Normally I wouldn't recommend buying directly from a manufacturer's Web site unless that was the only way to buy a product. However, it looks like "Cyber Monday" may be an exception to that rule--at least in the case of SanDisk, which is offering some significant discounts on its flash memory.

For example, an 8GB Ultra II SDHC card that regularly goes for $49.99 is cut to $20.99. The price of a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo is cut in half, down to $19.99.

If you take more pictures with your phone than your camera, you might want to grab an 8GB microSDHC card for $29.99 (down from $69.99). Other card types and sizes are on sale, too.

SanDisk also has some price drops for its USB flash drives and Sansa Clip, Fuze, and View MP3 players.

The discounts end today, though, at 11:59 p.m. PT and are in limited quantities.

Last week I picked up 2 8GB micro SD for $17.99 each from a popular on-line retailer. I wanted 16GB chips but for the price I couldn't turn it down.

Various retailers have similiar deals. I just purchased a bunch of high performance "Extreme III" cards from B&H (bhphotovideo.com) this weekend for dirt-cheap - and they all come with rebates that bring the price down to practically nothing. I believe Adorama has the same deals.

Example: Extreme III 4GB CompactFlash cards generally cost anywhere from $40 to $60 a piece. I paid $20 each at B&H, and the current Sandisk rebate brings the price down to ZERO - less a few dollars shipping. You read that right. The rebate is $20/ea on quantity 3. ($10 ea on quantity 1)

The B&H website still shows the same deal as I write this. Similiar prices apply to SD cards. The 4GB one is the best deal, but they have steep discounts and rebates on 2/8/16GB cards too.

pjk0, thanks for tip off on the B&H pricing. An 8GB Extreme III after rebate comes out $6 cheaper than the SanDisk deal on the Ultra IIs.

I went to the site and didn't see the offer, do you have a link to the deal you found?
