Alltel has introduced two new phones today; the LG Swift and the Samsung SCH-r600 Hue II.

The Swift is the first Alltel handset to feature a Fastap "Press-to-Experience" keypad that integrates six quick access keys with a normal number keypad. These quick access keys can be mapped to such features as Alltel Navigation, Alltel Shop, and Email. There are also external music keys, a dual speaker system, and stereo Bluetooth support. Other features include a 1.3-megapixel camera with video, a speakerphone, and a microSD card slot. The Swift is available in either red or blue for $49.99 with a two-year service agreement.

The SCH-r600 Hue II is a slim flip phone from Samsung and it also has external music controls and a microSD card slot. Other features are a 2.0-megapixel camera with camcorder, EV-DO, A-GPS, a music player of course, messaging, and Bluetooth. The Hue II comes with four different interchangeable faceplates (white, purple, green, blue, and gray). There's no pricing or availability information as yet.

I have the swift. I don't like the short cuts.... most of them use airtime. I absolutely hate the celltop... i'm constantly accidentally hitting that button and that is an option you have to pay for like a subscription and also uses airtime. the navigation is absolutely annoying and getting to the contacts list is way more difficult than it should be. otherwise it's a good phone. i liked it because it felt like the sturdiest phone alltel had to offer.
