Asus turns PC into origami art

We have no idea why we need a foldable PC chassis. But if for some reason you do, then rejoice, as the Asus Vento TA-F series can twist into a compact flat shape that takes up a mere 70 percent of its original space.

Available in black or silver (pictured above), once open it becomes just another chassis with four 5.25-inch and four 3.5-inch internal bays, excluding one for the floppy disk drive (which most people use as a memory card reader slot instead). Cost and availability are not confirmed at this time, but we doubt many will be holding their breath for this.

I would think it's to save money on packaging/shipping.

Yup. I think this is a great thing for small computer shop retailers and service providers. Space is usually limited in the storage area, as well as lugging around a pc case in your service vehicle. Although I don't see too many cases needing replacing in the field. Cool concept though. Now all we need is one that folds down with the motherboard and processor in the case. Perhaps even a harddrive and ram. Just insert click in power supply and go! ASUS feel free to pay me some green for coming up with your next evolution of your product. I am more than happy to approve your ECO on the CCB.

If it's folded when I buy it then getting it home is much better. The weight is not an issue, but lugging a boxed PC case on a crowded tram is not exactly easy. Like the Amazon effort to improve packaging, I hope other vendors consider this option when making future products.
